David Marks: Teachings and Meditations on the Buddhist Path to Peace
In 2015 David Marks conducted a cycle of teachings at the Tushita Meditation Center in Dharamsala India, entitled Teachings and Meditations on the Buddhist Path to Peace. The teachings were recorded, and starting April 6 we will start listening to these teachings on our weekly meditations on Wednesdays.
David's teachings are very special in that they manage to provide beginner's with a fantastic introduction to Buddha Dharma, while at the same time allowing experienced students to deepen there understanding. His teachings are very practical and shows wonderfully how wisdom, compassion, and love can be cultivated in everyday life.
David Marks is originally from Melbourne, Australia. After graduating from Law School in 1978 he traveled around Asia, developing an interest in eastern religion and meditation along the way. He ordained as a monk soon after meeting his teacher Lama Zopa Rinpoche and then studied at Nalanda Monastery for several years, later teaching at Tushita, Kopan Monastery, and Root Institute. He has also been resident teacher at Vajrayana Institute and director of Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery.
Since 2007 he has lived mostly in solitude while trying to develop his personal meditation practice. Recently David returned to lay life and has now begun teaching again at FPMT centres in India and Nepal.
